Idaho State Football Named Commissioner’s Team of the Month Following 4-0 Start

In the latest Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, the Bengals were ranked No. 12

FARMINGTON, Utah (Oct. 1, 2026) – For the first time since 1995 the Idaho State football program has started the season 4-0, earning them Big Sky Conference Commissioner’s Team of the Month honors for September.

ISU started its season at home in the ICCU Dome, where the Bengals secured a 38-10 victory over VMI in Week Zero.

The following week, the Bengals traveled to Logan, Utah, and knocked off the Pac-12’s Utah State 29-17. That marked Idaho State’s first victory over an FBS team since 2017 when they knocked off Nevada.

The Bengals moved to 3-0 with a dominant 59-17 victory over San Diego in Pocatello, setting up a perfect sweep of their non-conference foes.

Following a BYE Week, Idaho State traveled to Cedar City to start league play and knocked of Southern Utah 28-24 to move to 1-0 in Big Sky play and 4-0 overall.

In the latest Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, the Bengals were ranked No. 12.

Idaho State leads the Big Sky in offense, averaging 38.5 points per game through four contests. Additionally, they’re second in the Big Sky defensively, allowing just 17 points per game. Bengal quarterback Jordan Cooke leads the Big Sky in passing yards, averaging 252.8 per game. He’s thrown 10 total touchdowns in four games with a completion percentage of 58.4.

Four different Bengals have claimed Big Sky Player of the Week honors, which is tied for the most in the Big Sky to this point of the season.

The Bengals will host No. 19 Northern Arizona on Saturday, which will mark the first ranked matchup in Pocatello since 2018. That contest will be featured on this week’s episode of ‘This Week in Big Sky Football’.
