Montana Women’s Soccer Named Commissioner’s Team of the Month for October

The Griz finished on top of the Big Sky standings, securing 17 points with a record of 5-1-2 in conference play

FARMINGTON, Utah (Oct. 31, 2025) – Fresh off claiming their third-consecutive Big Sky Conference regular season women’s soccer title, the Montana Grizzlies have been named Commissioner’s Team of the Month.

The Griz finished on top of the Big Sky standings, securing 17 points with a record of 5-1-2 in conference play. For the effort, Montana will serve as the host of the 2026 Big Sky Soccer Championship.

With that result, Montana became the first program in Big Sky Conference history to win three consecutive outright championships.

Montana did not lose a match in October, emerging with four victories and two ties. Five of those matchups ended in shutouts for the Grizzlies defense.

Additionally, the Grizzlies recently earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Pinnacle Award for the 2024-25 academic year. Montana was one of just two Division I programs, men's or women's, to be recognized, along with the women's program at Liberty. To be considered for the honor, teams must pull off a rare trifecta: receive the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award, plus the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches. In addition to those two criteria, teams must have a winning percentage of .750 or higher.

This marks the second October in a row that the Griz women’s soccer program has been named Commissioner’s Team of the Month.

Montana’s season will continue on Friday, November 7, where they’ll face the victor of the No. 4/5 matchup in Missoula on ESPN+ at 2 p.m. MT.
