Montana State Women’s Basketball Named Commissioner’s Team of the Month for January

Montana State boasts the Big Sky’s best defense, giving up just 55.2 points per game on average

FARMINGTON, Utah (Feb. 5, 2025) – After getting through the first month of Big Sky Conference play unscathed, the Montana State Women’s Basketball Team has been named Commissioner’s Team of the Month for January.
 
The Bobcats enter this week’s action 10-0 in Big Sky play, and 20-2 overall on the season. They have won an impressive 13-consecutive contests dating back to early December.
 
Montana State boasts the Big Sky’s best defense, giving up just 55.2 points per game on average. Offensively, they rank second in team scoring at 71.9 per contest.
 
Esmerelda Morales has led the charge for the Bobcats this season, dropping in 14.7 points per game on average. That puts her third in the Big Sky for individual scoring. She’s also sixth in the Big Sky for assists, dishing out 3.6 per game.
 
The Bobcats have six players that average over five points per game, and three that are scoring more than 10 per contest on average.
 
Montana State hasn’t lost in Bozeman yet this season, sitting at 9-0 on its home floor.
 
On Thursday, the Bobcats will welcome the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks to Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, which will serve as a showdown between the league’s top two teams currently in the standings.
 
That game will tip off at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN+ in Bozeman.
 
After a full year of awarding Team of the Month titles, this marks the first for the 2025 calendar year.
