FARMINGTON, Utah (June 4, 2024) – Running any championship is met with a strong number of challenges. There are so many moving parts that go into every aspect.
And then there’s the one thing you can’t control…
Weather.
This past May, both the 2024 Big Sky Softball and Track & Field Championships, hosted in Pocatello, Idaho and Bozeman, Montana respectively, were met with a certain number of challenges.
However, thanks to the hard work of a myriad of folks at Idaho State University and Montana State University, both championships went without any issues, leading to the campus staffs from both institutions being named Commissioner’s Team of the Month for May.
Rain presented challenges in Pocatello during the Bengals’ 2024 softball home campaign, which led to some cancellations and change of venues. And the weather challenges didn’t stop leading up to the Big Sky Softball Championship. But thanks to the hard work of the field crew and Idaho State administration, the field was in pristine condition come first pitch and every game was played without issue.
Snow started falling the day before the start of the 2024 Track & Field Championships in Bozeman, leading to a lot of anxiety about the schedule for the week. Even though competition started a little later than scheduled on the opening Wednesday, thanks to the hard work of Montana State staff, administration and coaches, the heptathlon and decathlon ended on time, thanks to all surfaces being useable to each competition. By Saturday, the sun was shining, and the track was blazing on MSU’s campus.
In essence, if you played any part of getting the facilities ready for competition, welcome to the Team of the Month club.
