Sac State Women’s Golf Named Commissioner’s Team of the Month

Reigning Big Sky Conference Player of the Year, Sneha Sharan, was named Women’s Golfer of the Week twice during the month of March

FARMINGTON, Utah (April 2, 2025) – After setting the tone for Big Sky Conference women’s golf heading into the 2025 Championship in Litchfield Park, Arizona, the Sacramento State women’s golf team has been named Commissioner’s Team of the Month for March.

The Hornets played in two events during the course of the month and have positioned themselves as one of the best mid-major programs in the west.

Participating at the Julie Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational, the Hornets finished in fourth place as a team, only losing to then ranked No. 1 Standford, No. 3 Oregon and No. 4 USC. In that tournament, they finished ahead of No. 48 Oregon State, No. 41 San Jose State and No. 33 UNLV.

At the Dr. Tonnis Thompson Invitational, the Hornets finished as the runner-up, finishing behind only Washington. In that event, they knocked off both No. 49 Oregon State and No. 47 UC Davis.

Reigning Big Sky Conference Player of the Year, Sneha Sharan, was named Women’s Golfer of the Week twice during the month of March. She finished fifth at the Juli Inkster and sixth at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, knocking off multiple ranked golfers in each event.

Currently (last updated Mar. 26) the Hornets are ranked No. 53 in the NCAA, with the expectation that they’ll move up based on their most recent performance in Hawaii.

Starting today, the Hornets are participating in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Arizona. This will be their final regular season tournament before participating in the Big Sky Championship at the Wigwam Golf Resort from April 14-16.

The Hornets are two-time defending Big Sky champions, claiming the league’s top spot in both 2023 and 2024. They’ve won four of the previous five Big Sky titles dating back to 2019.
