Montana State Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Named Commissioner’s Team of the Month for May

Across four rainy days in Portland, the Bobcats scored 181 points to secure their first Big Sky trophy since 2003

FARMINGTON, Utah (June 3, 2026) – After claiming their first Big Sky Conference title in 23 years and representing the league incredibly well on the national stage, the Montana State Women’s Outdoor Track & Field program has been named Commissioner’s Team of the Month for May.

Across four rainy days in Portland, the Bobcats scored 181 points to secure their first Big Sky trophy since 2003. They dominated the competition, with the next closest team finishing at 128 points.

The Bobcats put a stop to Northern Arizona’s streak of five-consecutive titles and are the first program other than NAU or Sacramento State to earn the Big Sky women’s outdoor team championship since 2007 when Idaho State took home the crown.

Montana State was paced by freshman Tilde Bjerager, who swept all three of the conference’s individual awards and was named Most Valuable Athlete, Most Outstanding Performer and Freshman of the Year.

At the conclusion of the meet, she had 25.5 points for the Bobcats.

Additionally, Sydney Brewster had 24 points for Montana State across three throwing events.

Bobcat head coach Lyle Weese was a unanimous selection for Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year following the championships in Portland.

The Bobcats also had a strong showing at NCAA West Prelims this past weekend, where Bjerager, Brewster and the 4x400 Relay Team all punched their tickets to the National Championships.

The 2026 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held from June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.
