FARMINGTON, Utah (Mar. 5, 2024) – For the eighth time this season, and 16
th time in his Weber State University career, Wildcat Dillon Jones has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
This also marks the final weekly award of the 2023-24 season.
Jones averaged 25 points, 15.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists across three games in the final weekend of the regular season.
He tied his career-high with 30 points, had 23 rebounds, and tied his career-high with nine assists in Weber State’s overtime win over Northern Colorado on Thursday. It was the first 30 points, 20+ rebound game in the history of the Dee Events Center. The 23 rebounds are the most in a game by any player in the country this season. He’s the first player in all of college basketball to post 30 points, 23 rebounds, and nine assists in a game since at least the 2010-11 season. He also played all 45 minutes in the game, had three steals, and was 11-of-11 from the free throw line.
According to Stats Perform, he’s one of five NBA or Division I players with 30+ points, 20+ rebounds & 8+ assists in a game, last 5 seasons. That list is Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James and Dillon Jones.
Jones followed that up with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists in Saturday’s win over Northern Arizona. It was his 18th double-double of the season, tied for the sixth-most in the country. He scored 24 points with nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals in Monday’s game at Montana State. He shot 49 percent from the field and was 19-of-21 from the free throw line in the three games.
