The junior from Columbia, S.C. averaged 22 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game in leading Weber State to two dominant wins to open Big Sky Conference play

FARMINGTON, Utah (Jan. 2, 2024) – After an impressive opening slate that led to victories over Montana and Montana State at home in Ogden, Weber State’s Dillon Jones has once again been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The junior from Columbia, S.C. averaged 22 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game in leading Weber State to two dominant wins to open Big Sky Conference play.

Jones scored 15 points with five rebounds and five assists and was 6-of-7 from the free throw line in Thursday’s 30-point Big Sky opening win over Montana. He followed that up by tying his career-high with 29 points, along with adding 13 rebounds, six assists, and four steals in Saturday’s 22-point win over Montana State. He was 7-of-12 from the field and 13-of-14 from the free throw line in the win. In the two games, he was 19-of-21 from the free throw line and knocked down three triples.

He is currently third in the nation in double-doubles with nine in 12 games this season. He is also second in the nation in defensive rebounds and seventh in overall rebounds.

This past weekend he also moved into third place on the Weber State career list and seventh in Big Sky history in career rebounds, now with 960 career rebounds in 100 career games.

On the season, Jones is averaging 18.5 points per game, 10.6 rebounds per game and 4.4 assists per game. He is the Big Sky leader in all three statistical categories, making him the only player in Division I men’s basketball to lead their conference in those three stats.

This marks the fourth time this season that Jones has earned this award, and more impressively it’s the 12th time in his career he’s garnered the title.
