FARMINGTON, Utah (Aug. 7, 2026) – Northern Colorado’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has been awarded the Big Sky Conference SAAC Cup for the 2025-26 athletic season.
The Big Sky SAAC Cup is a traveling trophy awarded to the school that earns the most points through SAAC competitions and initiatives during the academic year. The goal of the SAAC Cup is to encourage engagement, leadership, and collaboration across all member schools. Any event ran by an institutional SAAC group counts towards points and one point is awarded per student-athlete that participates. Points are counted from July 1 to June 30 each academic year.
The Bears recorded 12 events over the course of the year that saw a combined attendance of over 1,100 individuals.
The physical SAAC Cup was awarded to the Northern Colorado Bears at Big Sky SAAC’s in-person meetings in Spokane, Washington, which was part of the Big Sky’s Kickoff Weekend at Northern Quest Resort & Casino. Softball player Malaina Alifano and swimmer Mireya Ruiz were UNC’s representatives at the event and were on hand to collect the prize.
