EWU’s Allegri Named Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Allegri carried Eastern Washington to a 2-0 record at home this past week against Idaho State and Weber State

FARMINGTON, Utah (January 31, 2023) – After helping his team continue their winning streak and hold on to their spot on top of the Big Sky standings, Eastern Washington’s Angelo Allegri has been named Big Sky Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Allegri carried Eastern Washington to a 2-0 record at home this past week against Idaho State and Weber State, averaging 22.5 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game.
 
He was highly efficient from the floor, shooting 77.3 percent and was 8-of-12 (66.7%) from three-point range. The senior added five assists.
 
Allegri was the difference in the team's 75-71 win over Weber State, scoring 28 points on 10-of-12 (83.3%) shooting and 6-of-8 (75%) from three. With 25 seconds left in the game, Allegri hit an off-balance three from the corner to give Eastern a five point lead. He had five rebounds in the game.
 
The Kansas City, Missouri native scored 17 points in the team's 81-68 win over Idaho State, adding seven rebounds. Eastern has now won a record 12 consecutive games and 14 at Reese Court, both in the Division I era.
 
In conference games, Allegri is averaging 16.3 points per game, ranking ninth in the Big Sky. He is eighth in the conference with 6.2 rebounds per game. Allegri's 44.6 three-point shooting percentage leads the Big Sky, and his 54.1 overall shooting percentage is second through 10 conference games. Rounding out as a complete player, Allegri averages 3.6 assists per game, tied for seventh in conference with teammate Tyreese Davis.
 
Overall, on the season, Allegri is averaging 13.0 points per game to rank 16th in the conference. He is 10th in the Big Sky with 5.6 rebounds per game.
 
The Eagles have won 12 games in a row dating back to non-conference play and boast a 10-0 Big Sky Conference record.
