Jones Earns Fifth-Career Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Title

The sophomore averaged 17.5 points per game, 14.0 rebounds per game, 6.5 assists per game and 2.0 steals per game

FARMINGTON, Utah (January 3, 2023) – For the second time this season, and fifth time during his career at Weber State, Dillon Jones has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Leading his Wildcats to a weekend sweep of Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona, Jones averaged 17.5 points per game, 14.0 rebounds per game, 6.5 assists per game and 2.0 steals per game.
 
Against Northern Colorado, he scored a career-high 26 points and secured 13 rebounds to record his seventh double-double of the season. In that contest, she shot 14-of-15 from the free throw line.
 
On Saturday when the Wildcats hosted Northern Arizona, he was credited with a season-high 15 rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
 
Over two contests, he shot 17-of-18 from the charity stripe.
 
He was also named College Insider’s National Player of the Week, earning the Lou Henson Award.
 
Jones is a sophomore forward from Sunrise Christian Prep in Columbia, South Carolina. He was a member of the Preseason All-Conference Team, has been a two-time All-Big Sky honoree and was also named 2021 Big Sky Freshman of the Year.

The 2023 Big Sky Conference Basketball Championships will take place once again in Boise, Idaho, and run from March 4-8 at Idaho Central Arena.
