Triple-Double Effort Earns EWU’s Coward Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

His assist and rebound totals were both career-highs

FARMINGTON, Utah (December 27, 2022) – Following only the second triple-double performance in program history, Eastern Washington’s Cedric Coward has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Coward finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in Eastern’s lone contest last week, marking the first triple-double effort since Bogdan Bliznyuk recorded the first for the Eagles against Northern Arizona on January 16, 2016.
 
Coward was four-of-six (66.7 percent) from the floor in the game, while tying his career-high with two blocks. His assist and rebound totals were both career-highs.
 
Coward's efforts helped eastern tie for the second most points in a single game in program history with 130. It was also the 79th game with the team scoring over 100 points and first this season.
 
This season, Coward is second on the team and 10th in the Big Sky with 5.6 rebounds per game. The sophomore also ranks 25th in assists per game (1.8), 15th in blocks per game (0.5) and 21st in steals (0.9)
 
Coward is sophomore from Fresno, California that transferred to the Eagles by way of Willamette University.
