FARMINGTON, Utah (December 20, 2022) – After dropping 45 points against Southern Utah University on Saturday afternoon, Northern Arizona’s Jalen Cone has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Cone’s 45 points ties him for the 14
th best single-game scoring output in Big Sky Conference history.
He was a single point off NAU’s single-game scoring record, while tying the school record for single-game field goals made hitting 18. That record has stood alone since 1956.
Additionally, Cone hit the game-tying shot with 1.9 seconds left to force overtime in a contest the Lumberjacks eventually came up just short in.
Cone added five rebounds, one steal and one assist to his stat line while hitting six three-point field goals.
The junior guard transferred to Northern Arizona by way of Virginia Tech. A season ago he was a Third Team All-Big Sky player and was a member of the Preseason All-Conference Team.

The 2023 Big Sky Conference Basketball Championships will take place once again in Boise, Idaho, and run from March 4-8 at Idaho Central Arena.
