FARMINGTON, Utah (February 8, 2022) – Helping propel his team up the Big Sky Conference standings, Portland State’s Ezekiel Alley has been named ROAR Organic Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Alley had back-to-back season scoring highs this week specifically as he led the Vikings to their third and fourth consecutive win over Northern Colorado and Sacramento State.
He averaged 24.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, had three assists and a blocked shot in PSU's two wins.
Alley shot 17-33 from the field (.515), 8-15 from three-point range (.533) and 7-10 at the line (.700) in the two games. Alley scored a season-high 23 points with four rebounds and two assists in a 106-99 road win at Northern Colorado.
He followed that with a season-high 26 points, two rebounds, an assist, a blocked shots and five steals in a 73-65 win over Sacramento State.
Alley has had three straight season scoring highs if you go outside of this week after getting 22 points against UNC last Monday. He has averaged 23.7 in his last three games.
The Tucson, Arizona native transferred to PSU by way of Northwest Nazarene, where he averaged 19.9 ppg at the DII level. Prior to that he played at Fullerton College.
Alley is the first Viking to earn Player of the Week honors since former PSU player Holland Woods did so on December 3, 2019.
