FAMRINGTON, Utah (December 28, 2021) – For the first time this season, and the second time of his career, Southern Utah’s Maizen Fausett has been named ROAR Organic Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The senior forward was instrumental in SUU’s victory over in-state rival Dixie State last week, securing a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. He also recorded two steals and a block.
The Thunderbirds knocked off the Trailblazers 87-59 at home after dropping a game to the same team 83-76 on the road in early November.
To this point of the year Fausett is averaging 11.5 points per game, which puts him 21
st in the Big Sky. He currently sits fifth in terms of rebounding, pulling down an average of 8.7 boards per contest.
Following last season Fausett was a second-team All-Big Sky performer and was named to the 2021-22 Preseason All-Conference Team a few months back.
Fausett is the second Thunderbird to be named Player of the Week this season, as John Knight III earned the title following week three.
