FARMINGTON, Utah (January 18, 2022) – A day removed from hitting a blistering 82 percent from the field against Portland State, Southern Utah’s Maizen Fausett has been named ROAR Organic Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Fausett finished the contest with a double-double, scoring 21 points and pulling down 10 rebounds all while shooting 9-of-11 from the field as the Thunderbirds secured an 86-76 victory in their first game back since New Years Day. He also added in two assists and a blocked shot. Three of his rebounds came on the offensive end, securing half of his team’s offensive boards.
This is Fausett’s third career honor, and second this season. Following the 2020-21 season the senior forward was named Second Team All-Big Sky and was also named to the Preseason All-Big Sky team before the start of the current campaign.
The Saratoga Springs, Utah native is currently 13
th in the Big Sky ins scoring at 12.9 points per game, and fifth in rebounding at 8.7 rebounds per game.
On the season the Thunderbirds are 10-5 overall and have a 4-1 Big Sky Conference record. They will play Idaho State on Saturday and Weber State on Monday. Both games will take place in Cedar City.
