FARMINGTON, Utah (December 7, 2021) – For the second time this season, and of his career, reigning Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year Dillon Jones has been named Big Sky Conference ROAR Organic Men’s Basketball Player of the Week out of Weber State University.
Jones averaged 15 points and 13 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the field in leading Weber State to a 2-0 start in Big Sky play.
He started the weekend with 18 points and 12 rebounds in Thursday’s win over Northern Arizona. He also tied his career-high with five steals and was 7-of-13 from the field.
Jones followed that up two days later with 12 points, 14 rebounds and four assists in Saturday’s 80-69 win over Portland State. He also averaged three assists and three steals in the two games and was 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
In leading Weber State to an 8-0 start, Jones has six double-doubles in eight games. The six double-doubles are tied for the third-most by any player in the nation this season. Jones leads the Big Sky and ranks sixth in the nation in rebounding at 11.2 per game. He is also second in the conference in field goal percentage at 60.6 percent.
Additionally, the Wildcats are one of only 12 teams in NCAA Division I men’s basketball that are still undefeated to this point of the year. WSU also received votes this week in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
