Sacramento State, Weber State Earn Weekly Golf Honors

The senior officially tied for 12th in the tournament after not all the teams were able to complete their final round

FARMINGTON, Utah (Mar. 6, 2024) – The Big Sky Conference office has announced its latest round of Golfer of the Week awards, with Sacramento State taking the women’s honor and Weber State claiming the men’s.
 
Women’s Golfer of the Week – Jennifer Koga, Sacramento State
 
Jennifer Koga led Sacramento State with rounds of 72-71-71 for a 214 at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday in Fairfax, California.
 
The senior officially tied for 12th in the tournament after not all the teams were able to complete their final round and scores reverted back to a 36-hole total. Koga dominated the par-3 holes on the opening day, finishing at 3-under which tied for the best in the tournament. She closed the two rounds with nine birdies.
 
The tournament included four teams ranked in the top 25, including a pair in the top-10. Sacramento State sat in fourth place when play was stopped ahead of #19 San Jose State and #25 California.
 
This is Koga’s first weekly award this season. She is a three-time Big Sky Women’s Golfer of the Year.
 
Men’s Golfer of the Week – Ty Anderson, Weber State
 
Ty Anderson led the Wildcats to a second place finish at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational in Sugarland, Texas, posting an 8-under par total of 208 to tie for fifth place overall.
 
The sophomore opened his tournament at Sweetwater Countru Club with three birdies and an eagle in a 2-under par 70 on Monday morning. He then closed the day with six birdies in a 4-under par 68 in the afternoon. On Tuesday, Anderson returned with another strong round with five more birdies to again shoot 2-under par 70.
 
This is Anderson’s first weekly award of the season.
