Three Net #BigSkyTennis Weekly Honors

EWU's Jennifer Kida won in straight-sets at the No. 2 spot in singles play, winning against Gonzaga and Montana State foes.

FARMINGTON, Utah (Feb. 28, 2024) – Eastern Washington's Jennifer Kida and Sacramento State's Irene Riva were awarded Big Sky Tennis Co-Player of the Week honors on the women's side, while Montana's Tom Bittner won conference laurels on the men's side to highlight this past week's action in the league. 

Men's Tennis Player the Week: Tom Bittner, Montana
Tom Bittner went undefeated for Montana over the weekend, as the sophomore downed Marquette and North Dakota foes to earn weekly conference honors. 

Bittner was 2-0 in singles, winning both matches decisively in straight sets, while picking up a victory in double action. On the year, Bittner is undefeated on the season at 7-0 in singles and 3-2 overall in doubles.

The weekly conference honor for Bittner is the first of his career.

Women's Tennis Co-Player the Week: Jennifer Kida, EWU/Irene Riva, Sac State
Eastern Washington's Jennifer Kida and Sacramento State's Irene Riva each posted 4-0 records this past weekend, as the pair split weekly conference honors. 

Kida won in straight-sets at the No. 2 spot in singles play, winning against Gonzaga and Montana State foes. 

Riva clinched both of Sacramento State's wins against Long Beach State and UC Riverside on the road, building her singles record to a team-best 8-1 on the year. The Hornets are 7-3 overall on the year, which is the program's best start since 2012. 

The weekly conference honors for Kida and Riva were the first of their careers.
