FARMINGTON, Utah (Jan. 24, 2024) – Idaho State's Hana Cho and Sacramento State's Mark Keki were named Big Sky Tennis Players of the Week, following the pair's outstanding performances over the weekend.
Men's Tennis Player the Week: Mark Keki, Sacramento State
Sacramento State's Mark Keki posted a 2-1 record overall this past week against UC San Diego and San Diego State, with two of those wins coming in singles play. The senior helped the Hornets open the season with a 1-1 record, as they downed UC San Diego 4-3 before dropping a 4-1 decision to San Diego State.
Keki, who is a three-time first team all-Big Sky selection in both singles and doubles, played all four of his matches over the weekend in the No. 1 spot for the Hornets. For his career, the Gyor, Hungary, native is now 37-12 in dual singles matches, including a 30-9 mark at the No. 1 spot in the lineup.
The conference weekly honor for Keki is the third of his career, after winning once in 2022, 2023 and now in 2024.
Women's Tennis Player the Week: Hana Cho, Idaho State
Idaho State's Hana Cho helped guide the Bengals to a 1-1 opening weekend record, which included a 5-2 win over Utah State. Cho was 2-0 against Utah State, while dropping her singles and doubles contests to Utah to close out the weekend.
In her matches versus Utah State, Cho started her day with a 6-2 win in doubles play before earning a three-set victory against her Aggie opponent in a 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-1 decision at the No. 1 spot. Cho posted a valiant effort against Utah, as the senior fell in a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 8-10 match also at the top spot in the lineup.
The conference weekly honor for Cho is the second of her career and first since 2021.
