FARMINGTON, Utah (April 29, 2025) – Montana will take on No. 3 national seed Texas in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament on Saturday, May 3, becoming the fourth Big Sky team in the last five seasons to face the Longhorns in the opening round of the tournament.

Montana, who is coming off its first Big Sky tournament win for the program since 2014, was selected as the No. 4 seed in the region and will face host and No. 3 national seed Texas, who is the reigning SEC Champion and 2024 national runner-up.
Montana and Texas will be joined by No. 2 seed Michigan and No. 3 seed Cornell in Austin in the two-day, four-team regional, with the winners advancing to Sunday's second round. Frist serve between the Griz and Longhorns is slated for 12:00 p.m. MT time, with live stats for Saturday's match found

The Griz enter the NCAA Men's Tournament with a 19-6 record overall this season, which is the most wins in program history. Montana won three matches in three days this past weekend in Phoenix, as the Griz downed last season's champion Sacramento State, Idaho State and top-seeded Northern Arizona on its way to a tournament title.
This postseason will also mark the fourth time in the last five years a Big Sky team has been sent to Austin to face Texas in the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament, with NAU facing Texas in 2021, Idaho in 2022 and Sacramento State in 2024.
The Big Sky has not had a team win its opening match of the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament since it began in 2000.
