PHOENIX (April 26, 2025) – No. 3 seeded Montana upset No. 1 seeded Northern Arizona, 4-2, in the Big Sky Championship Final on Saturday, as the Grizzlies won their first tournament crown since 2014.
The conference tournament crown is just the second overall for the Montana men's tennis program.
With the win, the Grizzlies improved to 19-6 overall on the season, while the Lumberjacks fell to 17-9 to close out the year. The Griz are also the first Big Sky team to take down the Lumberjacks this season, avenging their 7-0 conference loss from earlier in the year.
Montana's Tom Bittner earned Tournament MVP honors after clinching Saturday's win for the Griz with his three-set victory over regular-season MVP Dani Torres.
Montana will receive an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament, with the field officially being announced on Monday, April 28 on NCAA.com.
