FARMINGTON, Utah (Jan. 13, 2025) – For the first time in six seasons, a new team sits atop the Big Sky Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll as the Sacramento State Hornets were picked to win the conference in 2025. The preseason poll was voted on by the league's head coaches, who could not vote for their own team.
The Hornets received 64 points in Monday's coaches' poll, while earning eight first-place votes.
Sacramento State returns three All-Big Sky Second Team selections from a year ago, with Lou Baudouin, Maddy Ferreros and Irene Riva on the roster heading into the 2025 season.
Sacramento State finished last season with a 20-8 overall record and 6-2 mark in Big Sky play, as the Hornets won the tournament title for the first time since 2012.
Northern Arizona, who had been the preseason favorite for the last six seasons prior to Monday's poll, was tabbed to finish season in the league in 2025. Montana State was picked to finish third by league head coaches, while earning the lone first-place vote outside of the Hornets.
