PHOENIX (April 26, 2025) – No. 2 seeded Sacramento State defeated top-seeded Northern Arizona by a score of 4-0 in the Big Sky Women's Tennis Championship Final on Saturday, as the Hornets repeated as tournament champions once again at the Phoenix Tennis Center.
Sacramento State capped off its first tournament repeat since winning 13 straight from 2002-2014, with the final two seasons of that streak being vacated due to NCAA violations. The Hornets now have officially 13 conference tournament titles, the most by any Big Sky women's tennis program.
With the win, the Hornets improved to 21-3 overall on the season, while the Lumberjacks fell to 15-4 to close out the year. The Hornets are also the first Big Sky team to take down the Lumberjacks this season, avenging their 5-2 conference loss from earlier in the year.
Sacramento State's Reese Walker earned Tournament MVP honors after clinching Saturday's win for the Hornets with her 6-3, 6-4 win on court two.
The Hornets will receive an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament, with the field officially being announced on Monday, April 28 on NCAA.com.
