FARMINGTON, Utah (Oct. 10, 2022) - After ending their weekend matches with 2-0 records, Dani Richins (Weber State) and Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin (Sacramento State) have been selected as the Big Sky Volleyball Players of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week - Dani Richins (Weber State)
Weber State's Dani Richins helped the Wildcats secure a 2-0 weekend record with matches against Eastern Washington and Idaho. Richins led the team in kills for both matches, recording 15 kills against the Eagles and 18 against the Vandals. The junior finished the weekend with an average of 4.7 kills per set and recorded a .312 overall hitting percentage. Richins also helped the Wildcats from the service line as she added five service aces as well. The outside hitter is currently ranked No. 9 in the Big Sky for kills per set, averaging 2.95 per set with a total of 171 kills. Richins is also ranked No. 7 in the conference for service aces, with a total of 20 aces and averaging 0.34 per set.
Defensive Player of the Week - Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin (Sacramento State)
Sacramento State's Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin helped the Hornets to a 2-0 home record against both Montana and Montana State. Kamba-Griffin ended the weekend with 10 blocks and three solos, averaging 1.43 blocks per set. The senior also recorded seven assists and two digs. The middle-blocker leads the Big Sky in blocks per set with a total of 90, averaging 1.27 blocks per set.
