FARMINGTON, Utah (Sept. 26, 2022) - After the first weekend of conference play for Big Sky volleyball, the league office has announced its set of Player of the Week honors as Portland State's Madison Friebel and Montana State's Lauren Lindseth earn the weekly awards.
Offensive Player of the Week - Madison Friebel (Portland State)
Friebel and Portland State finished the weekend 2-0 following their successful matches against Weber State and Eastern Washington. The junior recorded a grand total of 91 assists with an average of 11.38 assists per set. After the first weekend of conference play, the setter leads the league in both total assists and average assists per set counting only Big Sky matches. Friebel also added on four kills, four aces and had an average hitting percentage of .444.
Defensive Player of the Week - Lauren Lindseth (Montana State)
Lindseth helped Montana State secure a 2-0 weekend after facing Eastern Washington and Northern Colorado. She had a total of 43 digs, recording 24 digs against the Bears and 19 against the Eagles. The libero also added on 19 saves and three service aces. After the first weekend of conference play, the freshman tops the conference leaderboard for digs per set with a total of 6.14 per set counting only Big Sky matches.
