FARMINGTON, Utah (Sept. 19, 2022) - Carly Anderson (Montana) and Kate Doorn (Idaho) were named Big Sky Volleyball Co-Offensive Players of the Week after an exciting final week of non-conference play, while Madison Wilson was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week after helping Idaho with their first undefeated weekend of the year the league office announced today.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week - Carly Anderson (Montana)/Kate Doorn (Idaho)
Anderson of Montana and Doorn of Idaho were selected as the Big Sky Volleyball Co-Offensive Players of the Week following their outstanding performances this past weekend.
Anderson helped Montana with their 2-1 weekend record with matches against the College of Charleston, UNC Greensboro and Charleston Southern. The junior had a total of seven kills, three aces and five blocks, and finished with a .350 hitting percentage. Anderson also recorded a total of 115 assist, with a career high of 58 assists against Charleston Southern. The setter is ranked second in the Big Sky Conference for average assists per set with a total of 10.08 per set and is ranked in the Top 50 in the nation for assists per set.
Doorn was a key player for Idaho this past weekend as she helped the Vandals secure a 3-0 weekend record with matches against Morehead State, Wyoming and Nicholls. Doorn ended the tournament with 108 assists, 13 digs and 8 blocks. The freshman posted 41 assists with no errors in the match versus Wyoming, giving her the assist on 41 of Idaho's 53 kills. Doorn is ranked ninth overall in the Big Sky for assists per set with a total average of 6.60.
Defensive Player of the Week - Madison Wilson (Idaho)
Wilson helped lead Idaho to their 3-0 weekend by posting 14 total blocks, including three solos. When facing Morehead State, Wilson recorded a team-high of six blocks in three sets. The freshman finished the weekend with 30.5 points and currently leads the Vandals in blocks with a total of 39. Wilson is ranked sixth overall in the conference for blocks per set with an average of 1.00 per set.
Idaho went into the weekend still seeking their first victory. With the help of Doorn and Wilson, the Vandals current record is 3-9 after they secured three wins in their successful tournament performance.
