Big Sky Announces Weekly Outdoor T&F Awards

Track & Field Athlete of the Week titles are awarded each week during the regular season that four or more teams compete

FARMINGTON, Utah (Apr. 8, 2024) – The Big Sky Conference office has announced its regular Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards, split up this week between four different institutions.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week – Madeline Wilson, Northern Arizona
 
For the third time this outdoor season, Northern Arizona’s Madeline Wilson has been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
 
At UNLV, Wilson ran a 22.98 to break the Northern Arizona school record and take a significant lead in the Big Sky standings.
 
She’s currently ranked 10th in the event in the entire NCAA.
 
NAU has claimed every outdoor women’s track honor to this point of the season.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week – Caitlin Simmons, Eastern Washington
 
For the second time this outdoor season, Eastern Washington’s Caitlin “Egypt” Simmons has been named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Simmons won the triple jump at the Whitworth Peace Meet with a 12.70m mark. Her previous jump that broke the EWU record was 12.59m. Simmons continues to hold the top spot in Big Sky in triple jump. She also ranks 11th in the NCAA West Region.

Men's Track Athlete of the Week – Jerome Campbell, Northern Colorado
 
Running the best 100-meter dash in the Big Sky so far this season, Northern Colorado’s Jerome Campbell has been named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Campbell recorded a 10.31 at the CU Invitational to win the event. He also won the 110-meter hurdles with a 13.76, along with navigating his 4x100-meter team to a victory and a 40.80.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week – Elijah Jackman, Montana State
 
After becoming the conference leader in both the men’s discus and hammer throw, Montana State’s Elijah Jackman has been named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
 
At the Cat-Griz Outdoor Dual, Jackman had a discus throw of 53.29m and a hammer toss of 63.60m.
