FARMINGTON, Utah (Mar. 25, 2024) – Highlighted by a new Big Sky Conference record in the men’s javelin, the league office has announced its most recent edition of Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week award winners.
Track & Field Athlete of the Week is awarded each week during the regular season that four or more teams compete.
Men's Field Athlete of the Week – Cody Canard, Weber State
Weber State’s Cody Canard broke the Big Sky Conference and Weber State University records in the men’s javelin this past weekend, earning him Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Canard’s mark of 78.07m (256’ 2”) at the Utah Tech Invitational also is the third best in the nation so far this season and has qualified him for the Olympic Trials.
The previous Big Sky record of 255’ 10” was held by Montana’s Craig Stiles and was set in 1972.

Men's Track Athlete of the Week – Jerome Campbell, Northern Colorado
Setting the Big Sky standard in the men’s 110-meter hurdles, Northern Colorado’s Jerome Campbell has been named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Campbell ran a UNC record 13.58 at the 45
th Aztec Invitational to set the top mark in the Big Sky so far this season and the fourth best in the entire NCAA.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week – Sydney Brewster, Montana State
Breaking a Montana State record and shooting to the top of the Big Sky leaderboard in the women’s shot put has earned Sydney Brewster Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Brewster’s toss of 15.91m (52’ 2.5”) broke the MSU school record in her very first collegiate outdoor meet, as she was competing at the Al Manuel Invitational in Missoula.
Brewster's throw broke an MSU program record that had stood since 2008 and did so by more than two feet. The mark is the 25th best in NCAA Division I this year.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week – Madeline Wilson, Northern Arizona
For the second-consecutive week to start the outdoor campaign, Northern Arizona’s Madeline Wilson has been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Wilson broke the Northern Arizona record in the women’s 200-meter with a time of 23.26 at the Willie Williams Classic. She also ran the fastest 100-meter time in the Big Sky this season at 11.52.
Wilson currently ranks 10
th nationally in the women’s 200 and and 25
th national in the women’s 100.
