FARMINGTON, Utah (Apr. 1, 2024) – There’s no April Fools pranks here, as the Big Sky Conference office has announced its most recent Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week title holders.
Track & Field Athlete of the Week titles are awarded each week during the regular season that four or more teams compete.
Men's Track Athlete of the Week – Ben Perrin, Montana State
After yet another stunning performance in the men’s 10K this season in the Big Sky Conference, Montana State’s Ben Perrin was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Perrin ran a 28:09.73 in the men's 10,000-meter on Friday night at the Stanford Invitational, finishing fifth in a deep and talented distance field.
Perrin's time was one second off school-record holder Shannon Butler's time in 1991 and is currently the fifth-fastest mark in NCAA Division I this season.
Earlier this season, Northern Arizona’s Nico Young earned the award for breaking the collegiate record in the event with a 26:52.72.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week – Cody Canard, Weber State
For the second-consecutive week, and a week removed from breaking the Big Sky Conference record, Weber State’s Cody Canard has earned Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Canard finished first in his section of the men’s javelin at the Stanford Invitational, throwing a 68.93m (226’ 2”) to secure back-to-back honors.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week – Aliandrea Upshaw, Northern Arizona
Breaking the Northern Arizona University school record in the women’s 10K, Lumberjack Aliandrea Upshaw has been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Upshaw ran a 32:53.65 at the Stanford Invitational, finishing 11
th in a stacked section.
Northern Arizona has claimed all three Women’s Track Athlete of the Week awards so far this season in the league.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week – Sydney Brewster, Montana State
For the second-consecutive week, Montana State’s Sydney Brewster has been named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week in the Big Sky Conference.
Brewster won the collegiate women’s section of the shot put at the Stanford Invite on Friday, throwing a 14.95 (49’ 0.75”) a week removed from breaking the Montana State school record.
