Hamilton’s No. 2 National Ranking Highlights Weekly Indoor T&F Honors

The Bozeman native is a multi-time All-American distance runner for the Bobcats

FARMINGTON, Utah (January 23, 2023) – Highlighted by a Big Sky veteran climbing to No. 2 in the NCAA in the men’s 3K, the Big Sky Conference office has announced the league’s third set of Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors this season.
 
Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards are awarded on weeks where four or more teams compete throughout the indoor and outdoor campaign.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Duncan Hamilton, Montana State
 
Moving to No. 2 in the NCAA for the men’s 3,000-meter, Montana State’s Duncan Hamilton is the league’s Men’s track Athlete of the Week.
 
Hamilton ran a 7:43.28 at the Bobcat Challenge in Bozeman, Montana, which put him just .01 off the NCAA leader in the event.
 
The Bozeman native is a multi-time All-American distance runner for the Bobcats.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – Colby Wilson, Montana State
 
Clearing the top mark in the pole vault this season in the league, Montana State’s Colby Wilson has been named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Wilson cleared 5.30m (17’ 4.5”) at the Bobcat Challenge this weekend to set the standard thus far in the Big Sky Conference.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – Regina Mpigachai, Northern Colorado
 
Breaking the Northern Colorado school record in the women’s 3,000-meter, Northern Colorado’s Regina Mpigachai has been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
 
She ran a 9:30.73 at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial, which is the second-best mark in the league to this point of the season.
 
This is her second Athlete of the Week victory of the indoor campaign.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Destinee Rose-Haas, Idaho State
 
For the second-consecutive week, Idaho State’s Destinee Rose-Haas has been named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Rose-Haas won the weight throw for the second time this season at the Bobcat Challenge, she hit a 19.12m (62’ 8.75”) to continue her lead in the Big Sky
