Kahlaijah Dean Named #BigSkyWBB Player of the Week for Second Time This Season

Sacramento State heads into conference play with an overall record of 9-2 on the season

FARMINGTON, Utah (Dec. 27, 2022) - After helping Sacramento State finish out non-conference play this past week with a victory, Kahlaijah Dean was selected as the Big Sky's Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Player of the Week - Kahlaijah Dean (Sacramento State)
Dean was a key player for Sacramento State this past week as she helped the Hornets with a win over Cal State Fullerton. Dean recorded 28 points against the Titans and also added five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

The guard hit nine buckets from the floor, added a pair of three-pointers, and finished eight-of-eight from the line against the Titans. With the win over Fullerton, the Hornets set a new program record with its ninth non-conference victory of the year, breaking a tie with the 2013-14 squad that finished 8-2 in non-conference play.

This is the second Player of the Week honor Dean has earned this season as the guard is currently second in the league in scoring, as she has racked up 206 points in 11 games which gives her an average of 18.7 points per game.
