VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Mar. 15, 2025) – The 2024-25 Big Sky men’s and women’s indoor track and field campaigns came to a close on Saturday, as the NCAA Indoor National Championships concluded.
As they have all year, Big Sky student-athletes took down conferences records and continued to re-write the league’s record books.
Northern Arizona’s Elise Stearns set the new Big Sky standard in the women’s 5,000-meter, running a 15:08.07. She earned First Team All-American honors with a fourth place finish. Her previous Big Sky record was 15:21.43, absolutely shattering that time. She also finished eighth in the women’s 3,000-meter, to earn a pair of First Team All-American honors over the two days.
Her teammate, Maggi Congdon, secured a third place finish in the women’s mile to earn First Team All-American honors.
Northern Arizona’s women’s team finished in 18
th place, which is the best team finish in the Big Sky since 2007 when Montana State placed 17
th.
Montana State’s Shelby Schweyen became the first-ever Big Sky athlete to compete in the pentathlon and earned Second Team All-American status.
On the men’s side, Northern Colorado’s Jerome Campbell snagged the spotlight with a new Big Sky record in the 60-meter hurdles and a national runner-up finish. Campbell ran the spring in a time of 7.49, which resulted in a second place finish for the Northern Colorado Bear.
NAU’s Colin Sahlman secured First Team All-American honors in the men’s mile with an eighth place finish.
