LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. (Apr. 23, 2024) – The Big Sky Conference office has released its 2023-24 Men’s Golf All-Conference Team and individual award winners in conjunction with its Championship Tournament at The Wigwam.
The awards celebrate the regular season accomplishments of the competitors, and this year were decided by national rankings.
The University of Northern Colorado, who are also the defending Big Sky champions, swept the league’s two individual awards with Gage Messingham being named Player of the Year and Pietro Boeris earning the title Freshman of the Year.
Messingham is the second-consecutive player from Northern Colorado to be named Player of the Year, with Jack Castiglia earning the recognition a season ago. The Bears have had four Big Sky Player of the Year titles in their history, with Josh Matz winning back-to-back in 2018-19.
Boeris is the second Bear of Northern Colorado to be named Freshman of the Year, with Coby Welch claiming the honor in 2017.
Messingham was joined on the Big Sky’s First Team by a pair of Idaho Vandals and a duo from Sacramento State. Representing UI is Johannes Hounsgaard and Samuel Johnson, while SAC’s honorees include Luke Dugger and Zach Mate.
