FARMINGTON, Utah (July 12, 2023) -- Honoring student-athletes that exceled both in the realm of competition and in the classroom, the Big Sky Conference has announced the recipients of its annual Scholar Athlete designations for the 2022-23 season.
“When I look at this list, I’m blown away by the amount of success these student-athletes have had not only in their athletic careers, but in the classroom as well,” Big Sky Commissioner Tom Wistrcill said. “This group is filled with Big Sky Champions and All-Americans alike, with each and every member meaning so much to their respective intuition for the entirety of their career. I hope these honorees take pride in knowing their administrations held them in such high esteem that they designated them a 2023 Big Sky Scholar Athlete.”
An impressive six honorees finished their athletic careers with 4.0 GPAs, while 12 checked in at 3.8 or higher.
A total of 23 student-athletes were honored across the league’s 10 full-time members and affiliates.
The full list of honorees can be found below.
To be eligible for this award, the student-athlete must have exhausted his or her intercollegiate athletic eligibility and/or be a member of the graduating class, earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0) scale, been a participant in a Big Sky-sponsored sport, completed at least two (2) years of intercollegiate competition at the institution, and been a letter winner.
