FARMINGTON, Utah (January 5, 2023) – The Big Sky Conference office has announced the results of its 2022-23 Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Coaches’ Polls, which have tabbed the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks as the league favorites on both sides.
NAU claimed both men’s and women’s indoor titles last season in dominant fashion. The Lumberjack women scored 182 points, which marked the second-most all-time in league history, while the men scored 170 to notch the fourth highest in the history of the conference.
The Lumberjack men have claimed 10-consecutive Big Sky indoor titles, while the women have claimed four of the previous five trophies available on the indoor circuit.
NAU is also coming off a 2022 calendar year where their teams were a perfect six-for-six, sweeping all indoor, outdoor and cross country titles.
The Idaho Vandals were picked second by the coaches for both men’s and women’s, while Montana State was picked third also in both polls.
The coaches stayed consistent in the fourth and fifth spots as well across genders, with the Idaho State Bengals being slotted fourth and the Weber State Wildcats coming in fifth.
Some indoor squads started their 2022-23 campaign in December, while others will get their slates going next weekend.
