FARMINGTON, Utah (Mar. 25, 2026) – The Big Sky Conference office has released the results of its 2026 Outdoor Track & Field Coaches’ Polls, which have tabbed Northern Arizona the favorites on both the men’s and women’s side.
These polls are voted on by the league’s head coaches. Coaches are permitted to vote for their own teams.
The Lumberjacks swept the 2025 Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, California, and just recently did the same on the indoor circuit.
In the men’s poll, the Lumberjacks were a unanimous favorite, receiving all 10 first place votes. NAU has claimed four of the previous five available conference titles. Montana State, who claimed the Big Sky crown at home in 2024, were voted second.
On the women’s side, Northern Arizona received eight of the 10 available first place votes. The Lumberjacks have won five-consecutive Big Sky Conference titles. Montana State received the other two.
The Montana Grizzlies were tabbed third in both polls.
At the 2025 Indoor Track & Field Championships roughly a month ago, the top-three was Northern Arizona, Montana State and Montana respectively on both the men’s and women’s side, which is how the voting played out for both outdoor polls heading into the full swing of outdoor.
