Weekly Honors Announced for March 31 - April 2

FARMINGTON, Utah (March 31, 2025) – The Big Sky Conference will announce weekly honors for softball, outdoor track and field, tennis and women’s golf through the course of the week.

Big Sky Softball Player of the Week (March 31, 2025)

Player of the Week: Ava Brown, Idaho State (OF, Jr., Mered, Calif.)
Idaho State outfielder Ava Brown was electric in the Bengals conference opening series win over the Sacramento State Hornets. Brown led the team with a scorching .500 batting average (4-for-8). The junior center fielder mashed two home runs, drove in six RBIs, scored four runs, and posted an eye-popping 1.250 slugging percentage. Brown drew three walks and finished the weekend with a .626 OB%, also adding a stolen base to her statline. In centerfield, Brown had a perfect 1.000 weekend with 4 putouts.

Big Sky Softball Pitcher of the Week (March 31, 2025)

Pitcher of the Week: Anna Wilming, Northern Colorado (P, So., Columbus, OH.)
Anna Wilming collected a complete game shut out win against the Griz before coming in to the third game of the series in relief and collecting another win. She threw just 77 pitches in her first outing, registering two strikeouts. The sophomore only allowed one hit on the weekend.

Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week (March 31, 2025)

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Rob McManus, Montana State (Sr. Cashmere, Wash.)
Montana State’s Rob McManus got his outdoor season started on the right foot, winning the 3,000 meter steeplechase in style on Saturday at the Cat-Griz Dual in an altitude-converted time of 8:44.71. As a result, he has been named Big Sky Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. The two-time All-American in the steeplechase sits 11th in the country this season.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Colby Wilson, Montana State (Gr., Olympia, Wash.)
Montana State’s Colby Wilson won the pole vault on Saturday at the Cat-Griz Dual in Missoula, clearing a bar of 17-04.50 in his outdoor season debut. For that mark, he has been named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. The clearance is tied for the 12th-best in NCAA Division I this season.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Kyla Christopher-Moody, Montana State (Gr., Royal Oak, Mich.)
Montana State’s Kyla Christopher-Moody won three events including the 800, 1500, and 5000 meters to help MSU secure a blowout win over UM at the Cat-Griz Dual. After this impressive outing, she has been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Christopher-Moody also shattered a 27-year-old school record in the 1,500 meters by four seconds, clocking an altitude-converted time of 4:18.29--the 16th-fastest time in the country this year.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Erin Wilde, Montana (Jr., Whitefish, Mont.)
Montana Erin Wilde won the women’s high jump in the Griz-Cat Dual this past weekend, resulting in a Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honor. She cleared 1.78m in the event to have the second-best clearance in the Big Sky to this point of the season.

Big Sky Women's Tennis Player of the Week (April 2, 2025)

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week: Maddy Ferreros, Sacramento State (Sr., Nipomo, Calif.)
Sacramento State's Maddy Ferreros finished 3-0 on the week to help the Hornets remain undefeated in Big Sky play, with wins at Weber State and Idaho State. Two of Ferreros' wins came in singles play, pushing her winning streak to six straight matches and her record at the No. 1 spot to 10-4 overall. The weekly honor is the first of the season for Ferreros and the fourth of her career.

Big Sky Men's Tennis Player of the Week (April 2, 2025)

Men's Tennis Player of the Week: Tom Bittner, Montana (Jr., Neusaess, Germany)
Montana's Tom Bittner went undefeated in both singles and doubles on court No. 1 in Montana’s two wins over Portland State and Idaho to put together a 4-0 record over the weekend. In singles play, Bittner downed Portland State's Luca Prino in straight sets, while defeating Idaho's All-Big Sky honoree Francisco Gay in a three-set comeback. The weekly honor for Bittner marks back-to-back weeks the junior has won the conference award.

Big Sky Women’s Golfer of the Week (April 2, 2025)

Golfer of the Week: Cala Korman, Weber State (So., Killarney, Manitoba, Canada)
After securing a top five finish at the Fresno State Class on Tuesday, Weber State’s Cala Korman has been named Big Sky Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week. Korman finished the event at 1-under to finish in a tie for fourth place on the leader board. She closed the event incredibly strong, shooting 6-under in the third and final round. For Korman, this marks her second Golfer of the Week title during the 2024-25 campaign, and the fourth for Weber State as a whole with teammate Isabel Gutierrez claiming two as well.
