Below are the latest news and notes from around the Big Sky.

Idaho’s Mitchell Named Co-Player of the Week

Propelling the Vandals past Cal Poly on the road has earned Idaho’s Kolton Mitchell Co-Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. Mitchell dropped 31 points in the contest, including a go-ahead triple with seven seconds to play, to outlast the Mustangs in overtime. He also secured six rebounds, dished out two assists and had one steal. Through the 45 minutes of action he knocked down a total of six three-pointers.

This is Mitchell’s second Player of the Week title from the Big Sky, after earning one on December 24, 2024. He joins teammate Isaiah Brickner as Vandals to earn the title this season.

Montana State’s McMahon Named Co-Player of the Week

After matching his career high in a road victory against Cal Poly, Montana State’s Patrick McMahon has been named Co-Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. McMahon finished with 26 points and dished out five assists to push the Bobcats past the Mustangs. He shot 79 percent from the field (11-of-14) to secure the victory.

This marks McMahon’s first Player of the Week title from the Big Sky Conference and is the first Bobcat to claim the title since Robert Ford III did in January of 2024.
