Following a double-double performance on the road in a victory against Kansas City, Weber State’s Malek Gomm has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

FARMINGTON, Utah (Dec. 16, 2025) – With just two weeks of non-conference play remaining, all 10 Big Sky Conference men’s basketball teams are looking to end the month of December on a high note.

Northern Colorado Ranked No. 18 in Mid-Major Top 25
 
With a 9-1 record on the year, the Bears of Northern Colorado checked in at No. 18 in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. The Bears dropped a single spot, after being ranked No. 17 a week ago. They are currently the only Big Sky team residing in the rankings.
 
The Montana Grizzlies are also receiving votes in the Mid-Major Top 25.
 
Weber State’s Gomma Named Player of the Week
 
Following a double-double performance on the road in a victory against Kansas City, Weber State’s Malek Gomma has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Gomma scored a career-high 19 points in the contest, shooting 69 percent from the field. He also pulled down 13 rebounds, which also set a new career-high. This secured the first double-double of his career. Additionally, he matched his career-high in steals with three in the contest.
 
Gomma ranks third in the Big Sky for rebounding with an average of 7.6 in 10 appearances. He junior transferred to Weber State by way of Seattle University, where he spent the first two years of his collegiate career. This is his first weekly honor from the Big Sky and has become the fifth different player to earn the award in six weeks.
 
Stat Leaders
 
Montana’s Money Williams currently leads the Big Sky Conference in scoring, averaging 19.5 points per game through 11 appearances. In total, he’s poured in 214 points this season. Eastern Washington’s Isaiah Moses is second for scoring, averaging 19.0 ppg in 10 games played.
 
Sacramento State’s Prophet Johnson leads the Big Sky in rebounding, pulling down 8.7 boards per contest. Portland State’s Tre-Vaughn Minott is second in the rebounding category, with an 8.3 rebounds per game average.
 
Johnson also leads the Big Sky in steals, with 26 total for an average of 2.6 per game in 10 appearances.
 
Portland State’s Jaylin Henderson is the league leader for assist average, dishing out 6.4 per game through nine appearances. UM’s Williams has the most total assists, with 70 through 11 games played.
 
Idaho State’s Evan Otten is the Big Sky leader for blocks, with 18 total over 11 appearances.
