Weekly Honors Announced for Dec. 8-9

FARMINGTON, Utah (Dec. 8, 2025) – The Big Sky Conference announced its Player of the Week honors, presented by JAMBAR, with men’s indoor track & field, women’s indoor track & field, men’s basketball and women's basketball in full swing. 
 
Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week (December 8, 2025)

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Colin Sahlman, Northern Arizona (Sr., Camarillo, Calif.)
After running the fastest 3,000-meter in the nation this past weekend, Northern Arizona’s Colin Sahlman has been named Big Sky Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Sahlman competed at the BU Sharon Colyear-Daville Season Opener, where he crossed the finish line in 7:36.71 to win the event at a highly competitive meet. That time puts him No. 8 all-time in the NCAA record book, along with being the second-fastest indoor 3,000-meter time in Northern Arizona and Big Sky Conference history. The current top-29 times in the men’s indoor 3,000-meter were all set at that same meet. Sahlman is coming off a cross country campaign where he was the Big Sky Conference individual champion and an All-American.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week:  Jamar Andrews Jr., Sacramento State (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.)
Competing in his first collegiate meet, Jamar Andrews Jr., recorded a pair of top three finishes at the Silver State Invitational in Sparks, Nevada to earn Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors. Andrews placed second in the men's triple jump on Saturday with a best of 50-04.75 (15.36m). That distance was the third-longest in school history and made him one of just three Hornets to surpass 50-feet in the event. He’s currently No. 9 in the entire NCAA for the event. On Friday, Andrews was third in the long jump with a best of 22-11.25 (6.99m).

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Hayley Burns, Northern Arizona (Jr., Bozeman, Mont.)
Running the third-fastest women’s indoor 5,000-meter in Northern Arizona history this past weekend has earned Hayley Burns Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honors. Burns finished 5K in Boston in a time of 15:29.84, which was a major personal best and puts her No. 18 in the NCAA currently. Burns is coming off a cross country campaign where she was the Big Sky Conference individual champion and an All-American.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Hailey Coey, Montana State (Sr., Billings, Mont.)
Hailey Coey broke her own Montana State and Big Sky Conference record in the long jump at the Bobcat PReview on Thursday, Dec. 4, and has been named Field Athlete of the Week for here efforts. She recorded a winning mark of 21-0.75 (6.42). The mark is the longest by anyone in the NCAA so far this season and helped her earn the win the competition in Bozeman by over two feet. Coey also finished runner-up in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.51.

Big Sky Women's Basketball Player of the Week (Dec. 9, 2025)
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week: Jaecy Eggers, Eastern Washington (G, So., Woodinville, Wash.)
Jaecy Eggers had a monster week to help Eastern Washington go 2-0 and sweep the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge. Eggers averaged 25 points on 48.6 percent shooting, including 4-of-7(57.1%) on threes. Along with scoring, Eggers was key on defense, recording 3 blocks and averaging 6.5 rebounds per game. 
 
Eggers set a new career-best in Eastern's 66-65 win over Denver, scoring 26 points on 10-of-15 (66.7%) shooting, adding 6 rebounds. The Woodinville, Wash. native followed up with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks against South Dakota, helping Eastern to a 67-63 win. 
 
Eggers ranks 9th in the Big Sky this season in rebounding (6.3) and 13th in scoring (13.6), while tying for the conference lead with 14 blocks.

Big Sky Men’s Basketball Player of the Week (Dec. 9, 2025)
 
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week: Isaiah Brickner, Idaho (G, Sr., San Diego, Calif.)
After leading the Idaho Vandals to two victories in the Big Sky-Summit Challenge, Isaiah Brickner has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Brickner’s best performance came at home against North Dakota, where he had 26 points on 70 percent shooting. That was accomplished in just 17 minutes He also shot 80 percent from behind the three-point line. For the week, he was incredibly efficient and shot 63 percent from the field and 92 percent from the free throw line. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game and finished the week with two steals. The Vandals secured 2.5 points for the Big Sky in the Summit Challenge, as they also knocked off South Dakota State on the road. Brickner is in his second season with the Vandals after transferring from Marist College.
