“Seeing well over 650 representatives on our Spring All-Academic Team, with more than 100 boasting perfect 4.0’s, reaffirms that our member institutions are putting a strong emphasis on success in the classroom while also performing at the highest level across all the sport they sponsor,” Commissioner Tom Wistrcill said. “I want to congratulate each and every individual on this team for setting a strong example for their campus community, and for embracing the ‘student’ part of the label student-athlete.”
Women’s outdoor track and field led the way in terms of total athletes honored, with 244 athletes from that sport leading the pack. Men’s outdoor accounted for 176, followed by softball with 83.
Idaho State led the way in total athletes with 94, followed by Weber State with 87 and Montana with 83.
More impressively, a total of 102 student-athletes in this group currently boast 4.0 GPA’s at their respective institutions.
