FARMINGTON, Utah (April 24, 2024) – The Big Sky Conference office announced its 2024 Big Sky Women's Tennis All-Conference Teams and individual award winners on Wednesday, as Montana all three top honors to highlight the release.
The all-conference awards and teams are voted on by the league's head coaches. Head coaches could not vote for their own student-athletes.
Montana, who earned a share of the regular-season crown, had Hailey Murphy win Most Valuable Player, Kelsey Phillips earn Freshman of the Year laurels and Steve Ascher take the Coach of the Year honor.
Murphy earned a 16-3 singles record overall in 2024, while going a perfect 8-0 in conference play. Phillips was 9-8 overall and posted a 6-2 mark in league action. The duo played most of the season at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the singles lineup for the Griz.
The MVP and Coach of the Year honors are the first for Montana's women's tennis program since Haley Driver and Coach Ascher won the awards in 2014.
Weber State, last season's tournament champion, had multiple honorees selected to the All-Big Sky Singles First Team, as Megan Davies and Ana Morett were named to the singles squad and the All-Big Sky Doubles First Team after their stellar season.
Attention now turns to Phoenix, as the 2024 Big Sky Women's Tennis Championship starts on April 25-27 at the Phoenix Tennis Center. More info on the tournament can be found
