Sacramento State will serve as the host in Arizona

FARMINGTON, Utah (Apr. 12, 2024) – The first of two Big Sky Conference Championships in Litchfield Park, Ariz. Will take place in the coming days, as the 2024 Women’s Golf Championship tees off from The Wigwam.

News & Notes
  • This season the Big Sky Conference will host the Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships at The Wigwam Resort for the first time in league history. The previous two years, the event took place at Talking Stick Resort.
  • Sacramento State enters the event as the defending champions, after winning the 2023 title by shooting an 856 as a team. That score set a Big Sky Conference Championship record for lowest team score, as the event took place at Talking Stick Resort.
  • SAC’s Caitlin Maurice is the reigning Big Sky individual champion, after shooting a 211 for the Hornets.
  • The Hornets have claimed three team titles during the course of this season, winning the Big Sky 54 for IX, the Causeway Invitational and the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.
  • Northern Arizona enters the competition as the second-highest ranked team on the women’s side and claimed the Big Sky team title in 2022. The Lumberjacks scored an 872 in 2022, and Ekaterina Malakhova won the individual title.
  • The Hornets have won three of the previous four Big Sky Conference titles, claiming the hardware in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
  • One week of regular season men’s golf remains, with all four teams competing across three different events.
  • Idaho’s Johannes Hounsgaard has claimed the previous two Men’s Golfer of the Week titles, heating up at the right time of the season with the Men’s Championship on the horizon.
