FARMINGTON, Utah (Dec. 9, 2024) – The Big Sky Conference announced weekly honors for indoor track & field, women’s basketball and men’s basketball as the December calendar rolls along.
Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week (Dec. 9, 2024)
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: David Mullarkey, Northern Arizona (Sr., Leeds, England)
Following his first-ever indoor competition for the Lumberjacks, Northern Arizona’s
David Mullarkey has been named Big Sky Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Mullarkey compete in the 5K at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston and recorded a time of 13:38.27. He ended up just two seconds shy of cracking NAU’s all-time top ten list.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Elijah Jackman, Montana State (Jr., Tigard, Ore.)
With an impressive weigh throw to start his 2024-25 campaign, Montana State’s
Elijah Jackman has been named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Jackman threw 20.00 meters (65-07.5) in the men's weight throw to win the event and nearly record a personal best.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Ali Upshaw, Northern Arizona (Sr., Fort Defiance, Ariz.)
After setting a Big Sky Conference and Northern Arizona University record in her first race of the 2024-25 indoor campaign,
Ali Upshaw has been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. At the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener she ran the 5K in 15:27.86 for a set a new personal best by nearly 10 seconds. She broke current teammate Elise Stearns’ record of 15:33.74 that was set in 2022-23. Upshaw's previous personal best of 15:36.48 was fourth all-time in program history.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Tatum Richards, Montana State (So., Emmett, Idaho)
Setting the tone for women’s pole vault in the Big Sky Conference, Montana State’s
Tatum Richards has been named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Richards won the pole vault at the Bobcat PReview, clearing 4.11 meters (13-05.75) to climb to No. 3 in the MSU all-time top ten list. Richards was one of three Bobcat women (Megan Bell, Libby Hansen) to clear 13 feet in the pole vault, with all three earning top six marks in Montana State history.

Big Sky Women's Player of the Week (Dec. 10, 2024)
Player of the Week: Jaydia Martin, Sacramento State (F, Sr., Vancouver, Wash.)
Martin powered the Hornets' offense during the Big Sky-Summit Challenge, averaging 26.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, and 2.5 spg while shooting 61 percent from the field (19-for-31), 80 percent (12-for-15) from the line, and averaging 37 minutes in the two games. She opened with a 31-point night in a win over Kansas City, hitting 11-of-17 from the field and falling just two points shy of her collegiate high, along with seven rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. On the road against Omaha on Saturday, she scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-14 from the field, adding three blocks, and three steals. Martin has finished in double figures now in four straight games and six times in the team's 10 contests.

Big Sky Men's Player of the Week (Dec. 10, 2024)
Player of the Week: Carson Towt, Northern Arizona (F, RJr., Gilbert, Ariz.)
After stuffing the stat sheet in back-to-back contests, Northern Arizona’s
Carson Towt has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Towt averaged 13.5 points per game, and a very impressive 17.0 rebounds per game against Oral Roberts and South Dakota. Additionally, he averaged 5.0 assists per game, 2.0 blocks per game and 1.5 steals per game in 66 minutes of action. Towt currently ranks fourth in the nation for rebounds per game (11.3), is tied for third in double-doubles (6) and also tied for third in defensive rebounds per game (8.4). He secured his fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season in those two contests and has racked up five-consecutive double-digit scoring games.
