The offensive honor was the first of Shafer's career, while Xu picked up her seventh defensive weekly award thanks to winning six last fall.

FARMINGTON, Utah (Sept. 20, 2022) – After impressive weekends for Maddie Shafer (NAU) and Camellia Xu (Montana) on the pitch, the pair was honored as Big Sky Soccer Players of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The offensive honor was the first of Shafer's career, while Xu picked up her seventh defensive weekly award thanks to winning six last fall.

Offensive Player of the Week – Maddie Shafer (NAU)
Northern Arizona's Maddie Shafer scored two goals and added three assists in NAU's record-breaking 11-0 win over Ottawa this past week, as the junior was named the Big Sky Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. NAU's 11 goals broke both the school and conference record for goals in a match while Shafer's seven-point total for a match broke a program record.

Defensive Player of the Week – Camellia Xu (Montana)
Montana's Camellia Xu won her first Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season after posting a pair of shutouts against Boise State and North Dakota State over the weekend. Xu collected seven saves in the two matches, as she helped led Montana to its first win over North Dakota State since 2006. Overall, Xu now has six shutouts on the year and 17 for her career despite only being a sophomore.
