FARMINGTON, Utah (Aug. 30, 2022) – Following the second week of Big Sky Conference soccer, the league office has announced the recipients for another round of weekly awards.
Taking the previous seven days into consideration, Northern Colorado's Lauren Woodhull has been selected as Offensive Player of the Week while Idaho's Kira Witte has been tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week – Lauren Woodhull (Northern Colorado)
Scoring goals in back-to-back contests earned UNC's Woodhull Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Against North Dakota she scored a goal on just two shots, making the most of her 56 minutes of action and helped secure a Bears victory.
When UNC took on Valparaiso, Woodhull's goal acted as the equalizer and secured a tie for her team.
The Bears remain unbeaten to this point of the calendar, sitting at 2-0-2. They have also secured two Offensive Player of the Week nods to this point of the season, and one Defensive.
Defensive Player of the Week – Kira Witte (Idaho)
Racking up five saves and helping secure a shutout victory over Nevada earned Idaho's Witte Defensive Player of the Week honors.
She kept a perfect save percentage against six shots on goal to secure a clean sheet.
In three career games, she has secured two shutouts.
The Vandals are 2-1 on the season, making them and UNC the only two Big Sky teams with multiple victories.
