FARMINGTON, Utah (Sept. 13, 2022) – Following a stretch where they secured victories over Louisiana and UC Santa Barbara, the Idaho Vandals have swept the weekly Big Sky Soccer Player of the Week awards, the league office announced today.
The nods went to Maddy Lasher on the offensive side of the ball, and Kira Witte on the defensive end.
Offensive Player of the Week – Maddy Lasher (Idaho)
Netting a goal and handing out two assists over 128 minutes of play earned Lasher Offensive Player of the Week. She did all that with just four shot attempts.
This marks Lasher’s first POTW award so far this year.
Defensive Player of the Week – Kira Witte (Idaho)
Witte secured her fifth and sixth shutouts of the season against Louisiana and UCSB, where she played all 180 minutes in goal.
Facing 12 shots she made five saves to keep the opposing teams off the board for every minute of play. These performances earned her Defensive Player of the Week honors.
For Witte, this is her second honor of the season. Idaho has now accounted for three total weekly awards from the Big Sky so far this year.
