GRESHAM, Ore. (May 16, 2026) – For the first time since 2003 the Montana State women’s track & field team claimed a Big Sky Conference title on Saturday afternoon at Mt. Hood Community College.
In a meet packed with drama and intrigue, which was elevated by a trio of lightning delays, the Bobcats stayed the course to create a moment 23 years in the making.
MSU ran away from the field, scoring 181 points across 21 events. Northern Arizona finished as the runner-up with 128 points, while Montana rounded out the top-three with 111.

Montana State was paced by freshman Tilde Bjerager, who swept all three of the conference’s individual awards and was named Most Valuable Athlete, Most Outstanding Performer and Freshman of the Year.
Bjerager shattered the Big Sky record in the 400-meter hurdles, with a time of 55.84. That mark is good enough to place her No. 10 in the NCAA to this point of the season.
At the conclusion of the meet, she had 25.5 points for the Bobcats.
Additionally, Sydney Brewster had 24 points for Montana State across three throwing events.
On the men’s side, Northern Arizona claimed their second-consecutive title with another dominant performance.
The Lumberjacks scored 171 points en route to a team victory. In their final Big Sky event, Sacramento State finished in second on the men’s side with 110 points. Montana was also third for the men, scoring 107.5 points.
NAU was paced by a pair of 18 point scorers in Tor Hotung-Davidsen and Rheinhardt Harrison.
This was Northern Arizona’s 27
th Big Sky Conference title, and fifth in the past six seasons.
Scoring 20 points, Sac State’s Gianni Miles was named Most Valuable Athlete. For his strong performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Rob McManus from Montana State was named Most Outstanding Performer, while Weber State’s Tyler Warnick was named Freshman of the Year.
All 20 Big Sky Conference programs will now turn their attention to NCAA West Prelims in Fayetteville, Arkansas. That meet will run from May 27 to May 30.
