Championship Records Highlight Sacramento State’s Monster Second Round at The Wigwam

Sac State was paced by Jai Bahl, who shot a Big Sky single-round record 61 on Tuesday

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. (Apr. 28, 2026) – Sacramento State set multiple Big Sky Conference Men’s Golf Championship records on Tuesday, as the Hornets extended their lead at The Wigwam.
 
The Hornets hold an 11-shot lead going into the third and final round, after shooting a championship record 270 (-18) on Tuesday. The 270 broke Sacramento State’s single-round school record as well, which was 271.
 
Previously the team record at a Big Sky Championship was held by Idaho, which had a 271 in 2016.
 
The Vandals sit in second place after two days, shooting 5-under through 36 holes. Weber State is right on their tail, shooting 4-under across both rounds.
 
The Wildcats saw a huge improvement from day-to-day, as they shot 11-over in the first round and 15-under in the second round.
 
Sacramento State, Idaho and Weber State will make up the final wave of tee times on Wednesday, which are set to begin at 7:20 a.m. PT.
 
The Hornets are the league’s defending champions, after winning the 2024 title and the league going on a one year hiatus.
 
Sac State was paced by Jai Bahl, who shot a Big Sky single-round record 61 on Tuesday to take the individual lead. Across both rounds, he is 10-under for the tournament. His score on Tuesday was also a school record and tied The Wigwam record on the Gold Course.
 
Former Hornet Jeff Carr held the championship record before at 63.
 
Bahl’s teammate Gabriel Smith sits in second individually, shooting 8-under over the first two days of competition.
 
Play will resume at The Wigwam tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. MT / 6:30 a.m. PT with Round Three of the 2026 Big Sky Championship set to take place in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
